The Te Aroha Jockey Club is one of New Zealand’s most picturesque racecourses. It is instantly recognisable with its palm lined driveway and stunning backdrop of Mt Te Aroha – famously known as the “place of love” from the Maori translation of the word “Aroha” for love.

Famed for its country hospitality and top racing Te Aroha is a favourite course for trainers, jockeys and owners nationwide, not to mention the locals who have long made racing at Te Aroha a “must do” part of the community calendar.

Every April thoroughbred breeders from around the country converge on Te Aroha in to celebrate the Group One New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders Stakes. A great day of racing attracting the best fillies from around New Zealand and even the odd Aussie raider crosses the ditch to try and wrest the winning purse from one of our own.
